Godmersham Park, Godmersham, Canterbury, Kent, CT4 7DT

The East Kent Provincial Freemasons are holding a Provincial Garden Party at Godmersham Park. This year, in this beautiful setting, we would like to make it more memorable, by commemorating the end of ‘The Great War’, along with WW2 and Modern Day. As is the custom to Masonic events, any profit that is raised at the event will be donated to charity. In this case, the proceeds will be donated towards the Cornwallis Trust (http://cornwallisekfc.org.uk/).

Godmersham Park, during The Great War, served as a sub-station of RNAS Capel, Folkestone, to station an airship. With such an active history during the Great War, and this important anniversary, we felt that we should endeavour to educate fellow Masons and their families and believe groups, like yourselves, can help a lot in this regard.

We have contacted Living History Groups, Re-enactment Groups and we hope to include groups like yourselves that could bring vehicles from either World War. This is a private event and so is not open to the public. We do not particularly want to advertise the event as it is meant to be for Masons and their families; however you and your families are more than welcome to attend.

If you are interested or wish to know any further details, then please do not hesitate to contact us via Dean Faulkner (dfaulkner@imgroup.co.uk).

IMPS members wanted to display their vehicles at the Classic Car Hill Climb, Firle, East Sussex.  The event is all about the cars and having a great time, live music, good food, bar and great company.  I would like to site a display, which could be both moving and static at the top of the hill (the main paddock is at the base of the hill).  The feel of the day is very much retro/vintage and so IMPS would fit in very well indeed. You would have pretty much a blank canvas to work with but of course I would have to be able to plan you in. The bigger and more impressive the better!  Set up by 0930.

    Port-En-Bessin, France

75th Anniversary of Operation Overlord. Planning is well underway for the IMPS 2019 tour of Normandy. Our campsite is already booked and several guided tours around the region have already been organised with experienced experts. We are linking up with local groups and the MVT to participate in the commemorations, including parades in Port en Bessin and Bayeux. We will be travelling to/from France via Portsmouth/Caen. The outward crossings will be either the overnight ferry leaving Sunday 2nd June or the daytime crossing on Monday 3rd June. The return crossings will be on Monday 10th June 2019. The duration of the trip will be 7 nights. We will be “occupying” a campsite which is located mid-way along the landing beaches. This makes it easy to visit all the sites relevant to Operation Overlord and the breakout. It provides a very high standard of facilities, with both camping and on site cabins available, it has an on-site swimming pool, excellent showers, a bar/cafe area and great access for the larger vehicles. We now need YOU to make a commitment to the tour by filling in the form. As in previous years we will ask for stage payments between now and the tour, this should help to spread your outgoings in proportion to the clubs outgoings, so it helps everybody! Please give as much information as you can at this stage, but we understand that there may be some changes necessary over the intervening time, you will be asked for more detailed information nearer the time. Please include your email address so we can save on postage and get the very latest information to you as it happens. If you change your email address please make sure you update us. We will not intentionally divulge this information to any third party. But we may send you links to museums etc. The tour is being arranged by IMPS so the entrant needs to be a current IMPS member, and still be a member at the time of the tour. Space is limited so entries will be strictly on a first come first served basis. If all the spaces are filled, you will be placed, in order, on a reserve list. Entry forms available by emailing Gareth Wear.
