Fri08May2020Sun10May2020Sandwich Town Quay, Quay Green and the River Stour
Park and Ride at Discovery Park all three days. Follow the signs on Sandwich by pass to Discovery Park Visitor Centre for car park and free bus ride to Sandwich. A P22 Gunship manned by a crew of 6 and armoured with three 50 calibre Browning machine guns will moor on the River in Sandwich for the weekend. It will be the heart of a weekend of re-enacting the 40s with over 200 experienced re-enactors taking part. The likes of the Desert Rats, RAF, Red Cross Nurses, Military Police, Home Guard, Land Army Girls, number 4 Commando Group and more will bring to life scenes including rescuing downed airmen from the Sea and stretchering the wounded to field hospitals . Air raid sirens and the sound of gunfire will add to the feel of authentic WW2 atmosphere. Further information can be found on the website.

Northiam Parish Council, together with their Conservation Society and Village Hall Committee will be hosting a 40's themed VE Day Celebration event on the May Day Bank Holiday 8th May from 11am to 3pm. They are looking for some IMPS members to join them with your vehicles to enhance the atmosphere. Northiam is situated on the A28 approx. 8 miles North of Rye, they have a boundary with Newenden Kent.

The municipality of Dunkirk have invited the War & Peace Display Team with the Invicta Military-Vehicle Preservation Society (IMPS) to provide 1940 period vehicles to participate in a series of formal commemorative events to mark the 80th anniversary of ‘Operation Dynamo’, the evacuation of British and French troops from the port of Dunkirk at the end of May 1940. These will be held in conjunction with the ‘Association of Dunkirk Little Ships’ which will also be participating in the commemorations.

IMPS EVENT
Now in its 6th year, this fantastic 1940s festival will be moving to the beautiful Ashton Court Estate in 2020. Come and enjoy military vehicles, re-enactors, live music, dancing, history talks, militaria vintage stalls, delicious local food including our lovely vintage tea room and bar, arena events, our 1940s farm, a vintage fun-fair and children's trail and much, much more.
The festival has close links to the local community and has raised £22,500 for charity to date, attracting thousands of visitors of all ages from across the South West.
