| My first involvement with Military
Vehicles was when I received a pedal Jeep for my birthday when I was 3 years
old! From that moment I always wanted to own a real one. My opportunity
came when I purchased one in 1970 for about £250. It was replaced
a couple of years later by a Ford script Jeep, which, being unaware of the
rarity of scripted Jeeps I sold in order to buy a much better condition
Jeep from the Warnham War Museum in 1976, which I still own. It has since
been joined by a Chevrolet C8A HUP, an ex-Australian Army Jeep, and most
recently a Canadian 1942 Ford Breakdown lorry, from Kenya. I joined IMPS in 1982, was persuaded to become (or rather conned into becoming) Treasurer in 1984, then Chairman in 1989, followed by President in 1992 (whereupon I immediately moved to Holland, to become a rather absentee President). After 5 years I reverted to being just an ordinary member. My second stint commenced in April 2008, and currently don’t plan to flee the country. |

| I joined the IMPS in 1985 when I bought my first jeep from R R Services. I have owned many vehicles over the years and have enjoyed all the IMPS events that i have been to. Because i live out of the area and now run a delightful country pub near Andover. I cant do as many events as Iwould like to, so Ii decided to take the job as secretary to give something back to the club as I have enjoyed many years with the IMPS and met many new friends, and I would like to help where I can. | ![]() |

Event Secretary
- Tim Hewitt |
||
| My first experience of IMPS was at the initial meeting, and forming, of the club at The Drill Hall in Maidstone way back in 1981. At the time my brother had a Daimler Dingo. So my Military Vehicle driving training was driving an armoured car to the local fish and chip shop to collect supper! I have owned, and enjoyed many different vehicles over the years from several Jeeps to Half-Tracks and Scout Cars. Their enjoyment has always been improved by the friends I have made in IMPS. I live in the Kent countryside with my wife and two children, who are learning to drive my Jeep around the fields, despite being 9 and 11. Having taken part in many IMPS organised events over the years, I was approached to “volunteer” to take over from Gabi Dunlop as events secretary in 2011. I hope I will keep you all informed of what events are coming up for you to enjoy with your Green Machines. | ![]() |

| I have always had a keen interest in WW2 military vehicles, starting as many do with Airfix and Tamiya modelling. After spending many years mucking about with motorcycles and kit cars I finally bought my first military vehicle, a 1942 Daimler Dingo, shortly after joining the 43rd Recce Living History Group. I now use the Dingo for living history events around the South East and also in connection with events supporting WW2 Reconnaissance Corps veterans. I have also now bought a 1940 Morris Commercial CS8 compressor truck to use as a ‘family’ vehicle, which after 18 months of restoration won an award at W&P 2011. I have been a member of IMPS since 2003 and have recently taken over the Surrey Area from Andy Neale who had held the post for the past 10 years. | ||
